        (init_string_tab):  Initialize length field bytes in the strtbl.
        (scan_xcoff_symtab):  Skip symbols that start with `$' or `.$'.
        Set first_fun_line_offset for symbols with two auxents only.

        watchdog timer expires, GDB will generate an error that looks like
