* acinclude.m4 ([AC_LC_MESSAGES]): Use AC_TRY_COMPILE instead of
AC_TRY_LINK.
* configure.ac: Run unconditionally AC_LC_MESSAGES.
* crossconfig.m4: Adjust.
* configure: Regenerate.
