scons: Track and reuse object nodes for a given source file.
scons gets upset if two different environments are used to set up a
particular object file. This change adds two dicts to the SourceFile
class, one for static and one for shared object files, which are keyed
off of the appropriate suffix. If a suffix hasn't been set up yet,
a new node of the appropriate type is set up and stored in the cache,
and then whatever is in the cache (new or old) is returned.

x86: LOOP's operand size defaults to 64 bits in 64 bit mode.
The microcode for those instructions needs a directive which overrides
that setting in the instructions emulation environment.

mem-ruby: Prevent ruby from crashing on CMOs
Ruby has no support for cache maintenace operations. As a workaround,
after printing a warning, we treat them as no-ops in the memory system
and respond immediately without handling them. There should be
workarounds in the memory system already that allow execution to
proceed without the requirement for cache maintenance operations.

mem: Ignore clean requests in the abstract memory
Systems with atomic cores and the fastmem option enabled bypass the
whole memory system and access the abstract memory directly. Cache
maintenance operations which would be normally handled before the
point of unification/coherence should be ignored by the abstract
memory.

mem: Handle CMO responses in the snoop filter
Previously responses would either transfer the ownership of the line
or the actual data to the cache that send out the original request.
Cache clean operations are different since they bring neither data nor
ownership. When they are also invalidating the cache that send out the
original request will invalidate any existing copies. This patch
makes the snoop filter handle the cache clean responses accordingly.

The snoop filter performs sanity checks of the type of packets that
are expected to snoop caches above. Cache maintenace operations are
expected to perform a clean and or invalidate on all caches down to
the specified point of reference and therefore could also generate
snoops.

mem: Co-ordination of CMOs in the xbar
A clean packet request serving a cache maintenance operation (CMO)
visits all memories down to the specified xbar. The visited caches
invalidate their copy (if the CMO is invalidating) and if a dirty copy
is found a write packet writes the dirty data to the memory level
below the specified xbar. A response is send back when all the caches
are clean and/or invalidated and the specified xbar has seen the write
packet.
This patch adds the following functionality in the xbar:
1) Accounts for the cache clean requests that go through the xbar
2) Generates the cache clean response when both the cache clean
request and the corresponding writeclean packet has crossed the
destination xbar.
Previously transactions in the xbar were identified using the pointer
of the original request. Cache clean transactions comprise of two
different packets, the clean request and the writeclean, and therefore
have different request pointers. This patch adds support for custom
transaction IDs that by default take the value of the request pointer
but can be overriden by the contructor. This allows the clean request
and writeclean share the same id which the coherent xbar uses to
co-ordinate them and send the response in a timely manner.

mem: Add support for handling CMOs in the MSHRs
To add support for cache maintenance operations (CMOs) in the MSHRs,
this change adds the following functionality:
- If a CMO request hits in the MSHRs, we deferred as we can't
coalesce it with any other requests.
- When we promote any deferred targets, we promote them in order and
stop if we encounter a CMO request. If the CMO request is at the
beginning of the deferred targets list it will be the only promoted
target.

mem: Promote deferred targets only when the block is valid
When a response indicates that there are no other sharers of the
block, the cache can promote its copy of the block to writable and
potential service deferred targets even if the request didn't ask for
a writable copy.
Previously, a response would guarantee the presence of the block in
the cache. A response could either be filling, upgrading or a response
to an invalidation due to a pending whole line write. Responses to
cache maintenance invalidations break this assumption. This change
adds an extra check to make sure that the block was already valid or
that the response is filling before promoting the block.

mem: Support for specifying the destination of a WriteClean
Previously, WriteClean packets would always write to the first memory
below unless the memory was unable to allocate in which case it would
be forwarded further below.
This change adds support for specifying the destination of a
WriteClean packet. The cache annotates the request with the specified
destination and marks the packet as write-through upon its
creation. The coherent xbar checks packets for their destination and
resets the write-through flag when necessary e.g., the coherent xbar
that is set as the PoC will reset the write-through flag for packets
to the PoC.

base: Rework the trie dump function to accept a different ostream.
It might often be useful to write output to cout when dumping a trie,

misc: Move the ExitLogger class definition into misc.cc
This class isn't referred to outside of misc.hh, and isn't necessarily
useful outside of the particular logging setup implemented in misc.cc.

tests: Remove trietest's dependence on cprintf.
Dumping the structure of the tries being constructed was useful for
debugging when the trie data structure was being developed, but the
output can't be automatically verified easily, and what's considered
correct depends on the specific implementation of the trie itself.
To make some of the earlier tests more meaningful, additional lookups
were added which verified that the correct values were returned when
the nodes of the trie were in particular arrangements.

arm: Enable ns registers access in secure mode
Arm security extension introduced register banking between secure and
non-secure mode. This has been removed in armv8 using AArch64 in EL3,
where the decoded register is by default the non-secure version. Using
non-secure register infos(flags) was preventing secure execution to
access the register with the MRC/MCR at EL1.
The patch updates the following banked registers' flags so that their
non-secure version can be accessed in secure mode:

cpu: Don't override ISA if provided by user
The BaseCPU.createThreads() method currently overrides the BaseCPU.isa
parameter. This is sometimes undesirable. Change the behavior so that
the default value for the isa parameter is the empty list and teach
createThreads() to only override the ISA if none has been specified.

arch-riscv: Move standard ops out of ISA
This patch removes static portions of the standard instruction types
from the generated ISA code and puts them into arch/riscv/insts. Some
dynamically-generated content is left behind for each individual
instruction's implementation. Also, BranchOp is removed due to its
similarity with ImmOp and ImmOp and UImmOp are joined into a single
templated class, ImmOp<T>.

We sometimes need to cast the System pointer stored in a
ThreadContext to an ArmSystem pointer to query global

tests: scons: Integrate the googletest library into the build.
A static library is built using gtest-all.cc and includes the gtest
main function from gtest_main.cc. extra libraries to use when linking
are included in the main environment variable GTEST_LIBS, and extra
CPPFLAGS are in GTEST_CPPFLAGS. The library's path is added to the
library search path, and it's headers to the header search path.

tests: Build the input file into the initest unit test.
This breaks an external dependency and makes the expected command line
conform to the other unit tests. Also get rid of some ancient tests
which test adding to the ini's contents based on command line
arguments.
This test still needs to be modified so that it actually checks whether

scons: Break make_obj into make_static and make_shared functions.
The make_obj function took a boolean value which just selected which
of the two lines it in would actually do something. This change breaks
it into two lambdas, make_static and make_shared, which just do
whichever line would have been requested, making the funciton name more
self descriptive and getting rid of the generally unnamed and opaque
boolean argument.

scons: Switch from "guards" to "tags" on source files.
Tags are just arbitrary strings which are attached to source files
which mark them as having some property. By default, all source files
have the "gem5 lib" tag added to them which marks them as part of the
gem5 library, the primary component of the gem5 binary but also a
seperable component for use in, for example, system C.
The tags can be completely overridden by setting the "tags" parameter
on Source, etc., functions, and can be augmented by setting "add_tags"
which are tags that will be added, or alternatively additional tags.
It's possible to specify both, in which case the tags will be set to
the union of tags and add_tags. add_tags is supposed to be a way to
add extra tags to the default without actually overriding the default.
Both tags and add_tags can be a list/tuple/etc of tags, or a single
string which will be converted into a set internally.
Other existing tags include:
1. "python" for files that need or are used with python and are
excluded when the --without-python option is set
2. "main" for the file(s) which implement the gem5 binary's main
function.
3. The name of a unit test to group its files together.
4. Tags which group source files for partial linking.
By grouping the "tags" into a single parameter instead of taking all
extra parameters as tags, the extra parameters can, in the future, be
passed to the underlying scons environment. Also, the tags are either
present or not. With guards, they could be present and True, present
and False, or not present at all.

tests: Resurrect initest input file(s).
Delete the current version of foo.ini which was modified, restore the
previous version, and initest.ini. Preprocess initest.ini which
includes foo.ini, and tidy up the resulting file. This file will
(mostly) get the initest unit test to work. Some other cleanups are
still necessary.

sparc: Return debug faults from unimplemented instructions.
These had been marked as non-speculative so that their execute
functions would only be called if the instruction should really be
executed. Instead, we can return faults which will cause the same
behavior when the instruction is committed and let the instruction
execute as normal.

sparc: Pull most of the Nop format out of the ISA description.
The Nop format mostly just made instructions that inherited from the
Nop base class but with different mnemonics, so there doesn't need
to be very much dynamic content.

cpu, cpu, sim: move Cycle probe update
Move the code responsible for performing the actual probe point notify
into BaseCPU. Use BaseCPU activateContext and suspendContext to keep
track of sleep cycles. Create a probe point (ppActiveCycles) that does
not count cycles where the processor was asleep. Rename ppCycles
to ppAllCycles to reflect its nature.

scons: Build error introduced by site_tools/default.py
One of the latest commits affecting the build system introduced a change
in the environment setting: rather than using the ENV dictionary,
environment key-val pairs were saved directly into the class. This
patch reverts that behaviour.

cpu-o3: Prevent cpu from suspending if it is already draining
Suspending the current thread context while draining due to a quiesce
pseudo instruction (for example a wfi instruction) could deadlock the
cpu and prevent it from successfully draining. This change ensures
that the cpu is not draining before suspending the thread context.

arch-arm: Ensure counters keep events on checkpoint resume
Events were not being attached to counters after a checkpoint resume.
By not storing the enable private variable from the stored state the
recreation of the event to counter association is automatically carried.
The enable state is stored in the reg_pmcnten.

cpu: Make automatic transition to OFF optional
Add the power_gating_on_idle option to control whether a core
automatically enters the power gated state. The default behaviour is
to transition to clock gated when idle, but not to power gated. When
this option is set to true, the core automatically transitions to the
power gated state after a configurable latency.

pwr: Adds logic to enter power gating for the cpu model
If the CPU has been clock gated for a sufficient amount of time
(configurable via pwrGatingLatency), the CPU will go into the OFF
power state. This does not model hardware, just behaviour.

dev: Fix the SPARC and X86 platform devices.
A recent serial device refactoring changed the name of the parameter
that the terminal device gets attached to on the UART. The x86 and
SPARC platform devices didn't get updated though, and were still using
the old name. This change updates those objects.

tests: Fix compilation of cprinftest.
This test has been broken since
70176fecd1ff04 in 2014. The problem was
that the array size in the test was technically not constant because it
was based on an int variable that wasn't declared as const. That
prevented g++ from resolving it as a template parameter. Before the
change mentioned above, the implementation wasn't based on templates.

sim: Implement load_addr_mask auto-calculation
Recent Linux kernels for AArch64 have changed their start addresses
but we still want to relocate the kernel to 0x80080000 which
required hacking the load_addr_mask in Realview.py to be 0x7ffffff
from 0xfffffff to mask off the proper number of MSBs to load the
kernel in the desired location. To avoid having to make this change
in the future again, we auto-calculate the load_addr_mask if it is
specified as 0x0 in the System sim-object to find the most restrictive
address mask instead of having the configuration specify it. If the
configuration does specify the address mask, we use it instead of
auto-calculating.

sim: ScopedMigration does nothing if both eqs are the same
Added a check to avoid unlocking/locking the same event queue. Also,
added an optional parameter to enable the migration to be skipped. This
can be useful to disable the synchronization for certain runtime
conditions.

util: Add script to plot DRAM low power sweep
This change adds a script to generate graphs from the stats file
output by the configuration script low_power_sweep.py.
The graphs show stacked bars for time spent and energy consumed
wherein each component of the stacked bar represents a DRAM power
state (Idle, Refresh, Active, Active Power-down, Precharge Power-down
and Self-refresh). The script generates one plot per delay value. It
also generates a pdf (--pdf option) in which the graphs are laid out
such that you can easily compare how the increasing delay and other
swept params affect the resulting energy.

tests: Add tests for DRAM low power modes
This patch adds two regression tests that execute the script in the
configs dir for triggering low power mode transitions. A separate
test is required for each page policy because for close-adaptive
page policy the DRAM goes into the Precharge Power-down mode while
for open-adaptive page policy it goes into the Activate Power-down
mode.

config: Add low power sweep for DRAM
This change adds a Python script to sweep a few parameters with a
goal to trigger transitions to the low power states of the DRAM
controller.
This script is largely based on the sweep.py but is helpful to study
the impact of inter-transaction delay on the behaviour of the DRAM
in addition to typical sweep params like stride size, bank
utilization and read percent. An idle period is added as the last
traffic generator state to target hitting self-refresh.

90d6290 and rebase
This patch syncs the DRAMPower library of gem5 to the
external github (https://github.com/ravenrd/DRAMPower).
The version pulled in is the commit:
90d6290f802c29b3de9e10233ceee22290907ce6
from 30th Oct. 2016.
This change also modifies the DRAM Ctrl interaction with the
DRAMPower, due to changes in the lib API in the above version.
Previously multiple functions were called to prepare the power
lib before calling the function that would calculate the enery. With
the new API, these functions are encompassed inside the function to
calculate the energy and therefore should now be removed from the
DRAM controller.
The other key difference is the introduction of a new function called
calcWindowEnergy which can be useful for any system that wants
to do measurements over intervals. For gem5 DRAM ctrl that means we
now need to accumulate the window energy measurements into the total
stat.

pwr: Enable multiple power models per component
This patch allows the user to specify more than one
power model for any given Clocked Object. This is
useful and some times necessary to properly model
components that have multiple power sources (or
subcomponents) but gem5 doesn't model them.
The ideal solution would be to have a DictParam
to replace the VectorParam so each model can have
a name and can be identified in the stats file.
